Dr. Neptune, MD
Dr. Nathaniel Neptune is a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Impressions Face and Body and the University of Illinois Health. He completed his residency training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, where he was selected to serve as the Administrative Chief Resident and recognized as both Resident Teacher of the Year and Resident Researcher of the Year. He was also selected for a prestigious Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship in Chicago, Illinois, to further refine his techniques in advanced cosmetic facial procedures. He is now board-eligible in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
His practice focuses on rhinoplasty, including alarplasty; facelift and neck lift; blepharoplasty and brow lift; lip lift; otoplasty; facial fat grafting; scar revision; earlobe repair and reduction; and the excision of facial lesions. He also offers non-surgical facial rejuvenation, including injectables, laser skin resurfacing, and microneedling.
Surgeons are highly trained to make changes, and there is always more that can be done. But the ability to remove more, add more, or contour more does not mean it should be done. Dr. Neptune believes the harder skill is having the judgment to know when to stop, to know when not to operate, and to know when to let a result speak for itself without being overly conservative. He brings that standard to every consultation, beginning with an honest conversation about whether a procedure is the right answer at all.
Before medical school, Dr. Neptune worked as a registered nurse in a surgical-trauma intensive care unit and a post-surgical care unit. Those years spent at the bedside helped him learn what patients actually experience when healing, which most surgeons never see. That perspective shapes how he counsels clients today. He understands that how a client is treated on their path to the result matters as much as the outcome, and makes decisions with clients rather than for them.
Dr. Neptune earned his MD and MBA at the dual-degree program at the Duke University School of Medicine and the Fuqua School of Business, where he was awarded the merit-based Dean's Tuition Scholarship and the J. Alexander McMahon Scholarship.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Neptune moved to North Carolina as a child before training in Atlanta and Chicago. He has volunteered extensively with youth mentorship through Big Brothers Big Sisters and has led health-career exposure programs for students from underserved communities. Outside the operating room, he enjoys weightlifting, drawing, and spending time with his wife, nieces and nephews.
