Preparing for your chin augmentation requires a little time to ensure a smooth recovery. Stopping the use of alcohol and smoking a couple of weeks prior to your surgery date decreases the likelihood of complications. Additionally, preparing your home by stocking up on soft foods and creating a comfortable living space limits the amount of physical activity you need to exert post-procedure and set yourself up for a successful recovery.

For your comfort, the surgery typically lasts about an hour and is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, ensuring a pain-free experience. However, in some cases, general anesthesia may be chosen.

For chin implant surgery, incisions that are confined to the inside of the mouth result in no visible scarring. Here, Dr. Dayan creates a pocket between the chin bone and muscle to expertly place the selected implant, ensuring a natural appearance. Once positioned, the incision is closed using fine stitches. A small, well concealed scar will result when incisions are made under the chin area.

After the procedure, once the anesthesia wears off, you'll need a friend or family member to accompany you home. This is typically a couple of hours post-procedure. We'll monitor you at the clinic to ensure there are no immediate complications from the surgery.

Post-surgery, it's common to experience tenderness and a sensation of tightness or stretching in the chin area. We can prescribe pain medication to manage any discomfort.

Swelling, bruising, and difficulty in facial movement are normal early reactions. To minimize these symptoms, tape applied to the chin is generally removed within a week. Stitches either dissolve on their own or are taken out within five to seven days.

Most patients can return to work about a week after the procedure. However, exercise should be postponed for at least two weeks. Additionally, any activities posing a risk of facial injury should be avoided for six weeks.
